Marc Ellman, M.D. grew up in New York and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College and then a medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. After a medical internship at Penn State’s Lehigh Valley Hospital, Dr. Ellman completed training in medical and surgical eye care at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where he served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. Dr. Ellman founded the Southwest Eye Institute in 2004 and the Vista Surgery Center in 2008.
Dr. Ellman lectures to other physicians and the public on various health topics, including regularly teaching cataract surgery techniques to ophthalmologists-in-training. Dr. Ellman is a published author, including writing the “Cataracts and Glaucoma” chapter of Duane’s Ophthalmology, a prestigious ophthalmology textbook used to educate ophthalmologists throughout the world. He previously performed magic professionally and is currently a private pilot volunteer for Angel flight (www.angelflightsc.org), an organization that provides free flights for medical and humanitarian purposes. In 2018 Dr. Ellman was elected to the board of directors of the El Paso Holocaust Museum. Dr. Ellman is fluent in Spanish.
