East Side Vision Center Has Closed Their Practice

Dear valued Southwest Eye Institute patient,

Recently, Dr. Mario Caballero has closed his independent optometry practice, East Side Vision Center, effective April 2, 2026.

While Dr. Caballero’s East Side Vision Center office will be closing, we are pleased to share that Dr. Caballero will be practicing and seeing patients at Southwest Eye Institute. During this transition, our goal is to ensure that his patients continue to receive the same level of care, attention, expertise, and compassion they deserve.

Dr. Caballero will continue seeing patients at the following El Paso locations of Southwest Eye Institute: Locations – Southwest Eye Institute.

To ensure patients receive continued care without interruption, Southwest Eye Institute has agreed to maintain Dr. Caballero’s medical records. Dr. Caballero and the highly qualified and compassionate providers at Southwest Eye Institute will be honored to meet your eye care needs.

What you need to know:

    • Until May 1, 2026, you can request your medical records from us by submitting a signed, written request.  You have the right to obtain copies of your records or have them forwarded to another doctor. You can also call our office at 915-267-2020. Your records will be retained and accessible for at least five years from your last visit.
    • The Southwest Eye Institute team is currently working with insurance payers to add me to their practice. We expect this credentialing process to be completed within 60-90 days of the transition. Until I am able to accept your insurance at the new practice, you are welcome to see any of their trusted doctors in the interim, and resume care with me at a later date.
    • If you would like to continue your care with Dr. Caballero and Southwest Eye Institute, call 915-267-2020 or you can schedule an appointment online.
    • Record Transfer: To ensure continuity of your care, your medical records will be transferred to Southwest Eye Institute. If you would like them sent to a different provider, please contact us in prior to May 1, 2026, and after that date, request from Southwest Eye Institute via email EVCRecordRequests@southwesteye.com or by calling 915-267-2020.
