Dr. Calvin Lee McNelly is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and advanced vision correction, including PRK and LASIK. With a strong commitment to patient-centered care and clear communication, he combines modern surgical techniques with personalized treatment planning.
Education and Medical Training
Dr. Calvin Lee McNelly, MD, grew up in Lubbock, Texas, before moving to Colorado for his undergraduate studies. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Denver, where he also studied Chemistry, Psychology, and Leadership.
His journey in medicine began at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He graduated from medical school and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He then completed a Transitional Year of Residency with Las Palmas Del Sol in El Paso, Texas, before joining the University of Alabama at Birmingham for ophthalmology residency. During his final year of training, he was elected to serve as Chief Resident.

Dr. McNelly is committed to serving his community and profession by actively participating in medical, humanitarian, and volunteer organizations.
Personal Interests
Dr. McNelly is passionate about medical missions, international travel, and eliminating health disparities. Outside of medicine, he enjoys being in the mountains, skiing, playing soccer, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family. His wife is an El Paso native, and he and his family are very excited to be home in West Texas and to care for the wonderful people of El Paso.
