Expertise

Dr. Kathy Phan is a licensed therapeutic optometrist with more than 19 years of experience providing comprehensive eye care to patients at every stage of life. Her clinical expertise includes diagnosing and treating visual conditions and ocular diseases.

Dr. Phan has experience managing and co-managing patients with a range of ocular conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, LASIK patients, autoimmune disorders, keratoconus, and dry eye disease. She is also experienced in treatments for keratoconjunctivitis sicca, including meibomian gland massage, punctal plug insertion, and Prokera corneal bandage insertion and removal.

Education & Medical Training

Dr. Phan earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, in 2006. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia in 2001.

Throughout her career, Dr. Phan has gained extensive experience providing comprehensive and therapeutic eye care in a variety of clinical settings. Her clinical background included diagnosing and treating ocular disease, performing comprehensive eye examinations, and providing specialty contact lens fittings, including scleral, RGP, hybrid, and Ortho-K lenses.

Her previous experience included practicing at Eyeland Vision in El Paso, Texas, where she provided comprehensive eye care and co-managed patients with conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, autoimmune disorders, and keratoconus. She has worked in different regions of the country including Ft. Rucker, Alabama, and the surrounding suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, where she provided comprehensive eye care to families and patients of all ages.

Personal Interests

When she is not in the clinic caring for her patients, Dr. Phan enjoys spoiling her two young pups and two senior dogs. She is also an active member at the Westside Community Church in El Paso, where she teaches Sunday School to elementary school-aged children.
